Long-time Attendees

John Burrows

President, DeWitt Move Worldwide

Chair, IAM Executive Committee

Attended 30 IAM Annual Meetings over the past 33 years

Being involved in the industry for more than three decades now, the IAM Annual Meeting is always on my calendar—it’s not optional. It’s the event of the year where you can see almost all of your partners from around the world face to face. That connection is not only important to us, but it also brings comfort to our customers when we can say, “Our friend there will take great care of you.” Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of learning from the great leadership at IAM—Terry Head, Chuck White, and now Brian Limperopulos. Each one has shaped our industry and helped me grow personally and professionally.

Stephan Geurts, Jr.

Director, Government Logistics NV and Vice Chair

IAM Executive Committee

Attended 27 Annual Meetings since 1997

The Annual Meeting is a highlight for myself, our company and the entire industry. Customers, agents, vendors and partners are all under one roof for four days. These are very intense days, starting early in the morning and sometimes ending late at night at the bar. It’s not only networking, but being able to see so many familiar faces each year, therefore not surprising that many of them became friends. As a board member, we get even more insight into all the efforts that go into organizing the Annual Meeting and making it a success.

Jake Pieroni

President, Central Van Lines, Inc.

Former IAM Executive Committee Member

Attended 16 Annual Meetings

The Annual Meeting is a way to share in the successes and not-so-successes of another busy and challenging peak moving season with this group of people who are the only other people in the world who “get it.” It’s an occasion to take in new learning opportunities, meet new business partners, break bread with and strengthen existing relationships, and just have a well-deserved great time for a few days. I look forward to visiting a new city, and seeing new people and old friends alike, every year at the IAM Annual Meeting.

Heather Engel

President, True North Relocation

Hall of Honor Inductee, Class of 2013
Member, Global Moving Foundation Board of Directors

Attended 28 Annual Meetings

I’m always talking and catching up with colleagues at the Annual Meeting. Sharing stories with people from all over the world is cathartic and helps to confirm that we have similar experiences and challenges. Sitting down and talking face to face is so much better than speaking on the phone or sending emails.

Ben Scheiner

Managing Director, Global Relocations Ltd.

Non-U.S. Core Member Representative, IAM Executive Committee, and Member, Ethics Council

Attended 17 Annual Meeting  since NYC 2007

For me, the Annual Meeting is a cornerstone event—a truly invaluable opportunity to reconnect with cherished friends and industry colleagues. It's perfectly timed right after the busy summer season, allowing me to take a breath and strategically focus on developing exciting new business opportunities. Most importantly, it provides the ideal platform to personally thank our incredible agents for their unwavering support and invaluable assistance throughout the year, reinforcing those vital relationships. No other conference attracts and commands the critical mass that IAM manages to, so in terms of time management you can choose to be as busy as you like and focus your time on what is most important to you and to your business.

Don Goldberg

President, Gridiron Forwarding Co.

Fundraising Chair, Global Moving Foundation Board of Directors

Attended about 30 Annual Meetings since 1993

I’ve always valued the opportunity to connect face-to-face with the people we do business with from around the world. Each year, IAM’s Annual Meeting provides me the chance to meet with many of our U.S. and international partners. Over time, I’ve built strong relationships and lasting friendships, and it’s always a pleasure to reconnect with those familiar faces. The exhibit hall is a great place to network, meet new people, and pick up some fun promo items. The meetings and events organized by IAM are an excellent way to stay informed about the latest developments in our industry. I will usually take some time to attend a local major sporting event, usually with agent friends. I particularly enjoy sitting down with our partners over breakfast, lunch, or dinner to reflect on past successes and explore future opportunities. And of course, as many in this business know…some of the best business deals happen after hours at the bar!

Tim Helenthal

CEO, National Van Lines

Member IAM Government, Congressional and Regulatory Committee

Attended 20 Annual Meetings since 2000

Not only is the Annual Meeting a great opportunity to catch up with long-time friends and to make new ones; it’s also an incredibly energizing experience providing excellent value with the best opportunities to build mutually beneficial relationships. It’s a ‘nutrient rich’ experience that fills me with new ideas, updates me on the latest trends, and expands my network.
