We hope everyone who has read the recent article in The Mover magazine about intimidation and unwanted advances at conferences was as appalled as we are. We applaud Steve Jordan for bringing this topic to the forefront, which has informed our discussions about how IAM’s commitment to providing a safe and respectful environment for all attendees at our events.

We want to assure you that creating a safe and inclusive environment is our utmost priority for the IAM Annual Meeting & Expo. IAM is dedicated to fostering an atmosphere that is free from intimidation and promotes open dialogue and collaboration among attendees, and is committed to enforcing our Code of Conduct, which outlines the standards of behavior expected from all participants.

Our Code of Conduct, accessible on the Annual Meeting website, serves as our guiding principle for creating a respectful and professional setting at the event. It emphasizes the importance of treating all attendees, regardless of their background, with dignity and respect. We strongly encourage each member to familiarize themselves with the Code of Conduct to ensure a positive experience for all participants.

Key to this Code is for attendees to recognize their right to report an incident confidentially and to intervene when they witness intimidation or unwanted advances. Call out bad behavior and if it persists, notify IAM using the information on the Code of Conduct. We all have a responsibility to create the right environment and culture at the conference.
