REVIEW: The 2024 IAM Annual Meeting & Expo—All In
IAM held its 62nd Annual Meeting & Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada from October 14–17. This year, our conference theme was All In. We chose All In because it’s a term for gambling with a winning hand, but it also represents the time, effort and energy that attendees (and IAM staff!) invest in preparing for and traveling to the Annual Meeting. The best part of going All In at the Annual Meeting, of course, is that it’s not a gamble; everyone who attends comes away a winner, with new and renewed business connections, new industry knowledge, and new ideas to grow their companies with a fresh vision for the coming year.
Inside and outside the Expo Hall, there was never a dull moment. The event showcased innovations that we’ve developed in response to attendee feedback from previous events. These included new “turnkey” booths in the Expo Hall that increased efficiency and reduced costs, house-shaped meeting pods located outside the Expo Hall, and making spacious ballrooms available as meeting spaces. The improved visibility and flow kept these meeting spaces full of energy as members held their individual meetings.
We assembled a stellar lineup of speakers for our corporate- and U.S. government-focused learning sessions, who spoke on topics ranging from what customers want, to the rise of AI in the industry, to what’s happening in the GHC arena. Panelists included leaders from RMCs, financial organizations, government agencies including the Department of State and Department of Defense, and officers of the HomeSafe Alliance. Attendees came away with new strategies to minimize claims, insights into the near future of the Defense Personal Property Program, and a look forward to the future of U.S. government moving.
In addition to the speaker panels, we also expanded on the concept of hosting small-group discussions on critical and emerging topics. The conversations among attendees were lively and productive as they shared ideas and experiences on subjects like technology and leadership in the industry. Each group shared their wisdom with the room at the end, leaving participants with valuable takeaways including the vital importance of frequency and transparency in communication to build trust, and the critical role of strategic business planning in navigating changes and supporting long-term stability and success.
The Annual Meeting offers more than just ‘something for everyone’; it concentrates a wealth of opportunities for face-to-face meetings, building friendships and business connections, updates on industry trends and IAM’s vision for the coming year, and social events. To all of our exhibitors, sponsors, honorees, and attendees who went All In with us in Las Vegas, we thank you profoundly for your contributions.
