The evolution of technology in business has been a continuous and dynamic process that has fundamentally transformed the way companies operate and compete in the marketplace. Over time, a number of technological trends and advances have emerged that have significantly impacted the business world.
Moving is a fundamental aspect of peoples’ and companies’ lives, and technology is radically transforming this industry. To keep up to date, at Grupo Amygo, we have been advancing and innovating with different technologies that allow us to adopt other strategies and practices.
Looking back, we have gone through different stages within our business. When first established, the company used a lot of paper, communicated heavily via fax, and physically placed staff at airports, ports, customs, etc. Little by little, keeping up to date with the technological advances that were emerging, Grupo Amygo adapted. Many processes were trial-and-error, and what at the beginning could have meant great frustrations, today has allowed us to forge a technology adapted to our needs in an exclusive and internally developed way. This allows us to stay one step ahead of our competitors by offering a quality and efficient service at all levels.
Our day-to-day dealings with technology
The life cycle of a removal service has a clearly marked beginning and end. Customers come to us because they have a need and we provide that service.
One of the main pillars of our business is our website, which is constantly changing to best meet the needs of our clients, using all the technical and analysis tools available and adapting so that it is always attractive to the user, intuitive, navigable and fast. Through our web channel we offer information, and you can request advice through different sources or request a quote through three different types of forms.
All these requests appear as opportunities in our business management system (ERP) system. These opportunities are transformed into valid files, compiling all the information provided by the customer without errors. This has helped us to effectively integrate and manage business processes including accounting, inventory management, logistics, human resources, and more. All of this on a centralized platform to which all employees have access, as well as the customer, who can track the status of their move.
In this way we save costs and paper, we gain speed and data quality, and we control our stock of materials. Moreover, it is accessible to any worker who needs it at any time. With this data, the commercial department can prepare a quote and once it is accepted by the client, the work order and the actual organization of the move is created.
For this work flow we use our removal management application, which is accessible from any mobile device or tablet and allows all parties involved to plan and manage the logistics of the move more efficiently. These applications can help with organizing items to be moved, counting boxes, providing real-time quotes, scheduling packing and transportation services, and providing real-time tracking throughout the moving process. It also supports communication and up-to-date documentation that can be accessed by everyone involved in the moving process whenever needed.
At Grupo Amygo we work with quality packing materials and we are always testing new ones that are more resistant, lighter and environmentally friendly. In our sector it is very important to be up to date in this area.
We cannot forget about mechanization in transport and cargo handling. In many of our services we take advantage of robotics to transport very heavy goods and belongings. We also use motorized platforms to move objects by stairs or difficult access, external elevators for facades, electric forklifts to save stairs, cranes, and more. These devices make it easier for us to load and unload lorries and to move loads consecutively.

What are we working on now?
We are currently working on the enhancement of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform that will benefit us in managing customer relationships, tracking interactions and improving customer satisfaction by better understanding customer needs and preferences.
This system will help us optimize the customer experience by delivering personalized content in real time, with predictive analytics, and leveraging artificial intelligence to improve the user experience and deliver a service that is more tailored to the needs of that customer. We know that the customer’s first contact with our brand is fundamental for them to be inclined to hire us over the competition.
How do we keep up?
At Grupo Amygo we are a family, we all have the same objective and despite carrying out very different tasks internally, a culture of effort and companionship reigns. We foster a culture that values innovation and continuous learning. We encourage our employees to come up with ideas, experiment with new technologies and processes and be open to change.
We allocate part of our financial and human resources to research and development (R&D). This allows us to explore new technologies and develop innovative solutions that improve our services.

What does the future hold?
At Grupo Amygo, we are always on the lookout for new technological advances that we could apply to our sector.
Augmented reality and virtual reality will help us to offer clients more immersive and personalized experiences to be able to make the best decisions, and at an operational level to establish an efficient and error-free work plan, for example, with simulations of manipulations in complicated accesses.
We’re exploring the use of drones to inspect and assess access or environmental conditions prior to the move. This will help any moving company to better plan the process and save you a physical visit to the home.
One of the most important developments could be tracking technology, which will allow the customer and the mover to track the shipment through geo-locatable devices installed on the transported consignment in real time during transportation and receive alerts in case of any anomaly or incident.
We are also investigating the use of autonomous vehicles, such as driverless trucks, which allow transport without breaks over long distances saving time in the whole process.
