As a volunteer leader with IAM, I am honored to share my experiences and the impact that volunteer leadership has had on the organization and the moving industry as a whole. Through my involvement with IAM, I have had the opportunity to work on various committees and initiatives that have allowed me to make a meaningful difference in the industry.

I am proud to say that these years of volunteerism with IAM have led to a full-time employment opportunity with the organization. My passion for the industry and my dedication to the mission of IAM has now led to a natural transition to a permanent role within the organization.

One example of the impact of volunteer leadership—one I am quite proud of—within IAM is the recent restructuring of the membership categories. As a volunteer leader, I was able to contribute to this initiative that modernized the membership structure to reflect the changing needs of the industry. This initiative was a collaborative effort that involved input from volunteers and staff members, and it has resulted in a more inclusive and flexible system that better serves the diverse range of businesses that make up the industry.

Another example of the impact of volunteer leadership within IAM is the development of educational resources and best practices for the industry. Through my involvement with various committees, I have had the opportunity to contribute to the development of resources that promote ethical behavior, strategy initiatives and collaborations like the Global green initiative in the moving industry. These resources have helped to promote a positive image of the industry and have provided valuable guidance for businesses looking to improve their practices.

In addition to the impact on the industry, being a volunteer leader with IAM has also had a profound impact on my personal development and growth. Working alongside other volunteers and staff members has allowed me to develop new skills, gain new perspectives, and strengthen my leadership abilities. The support and guidance of the IAM community have been invaluable in helping me grow both personally and professionally.

The impact that volunteer leadership can have on the organization and the industry is immeasurable, and the personal growth and development that you can achieve is equally valuable.
