Globally Connected, Mindfully Stable: Achieving Work-Life Harmony in the World of Moving
It’s no secret that one’s mental health and well-being is just as important as the physical when it comes to overall health and wellness. Still, it remains a subject that’s not often discussed, especially at work. It can be hard to know where to begin the discussion, and there seem to be as many viewpoints on mental health as there are people.
Rather than viewing these differences as obstacles, however, the IAM-YP group sees them as great opportunities to reach out, connect people with ideas, and raise many boats on the same tide. They chose this topic as one that impacts every aspect of our lives, at work and at home, and to promote resiliency and self-care throughout our industry.
Not all of our authors in this issue are YP members, but each of them has a unique story that has led them to the same conclusion—that mental health and wellness are vital and valid concerns that each of us must address for our own sake and for that of our colleagues. Below are 33 stories by 34 authors who volunteered to contribute their experiences and their hard-won wisdom on this sometimes elusive but always deeply meaningful subject.
In addition to this feature story, our YP members also recently hosted a webinar in which two of our members discussed their mental health histories and solutions in-depth: Globally Connected, Mindfully Stable: Achieving Work-Life Harmony in the World of Moving. The live event was recorded and is now available on IAM Learning. The stories presented there are moving and deeply personal, and we hope they will encourage and inspire you to find your own best way to recharge your spirit and encourage others in their own journeys.
