Change is a Constant: Adaptability is Key

By Jan U. Kamonchanok, Marketing & PR Executive, Boonma

American writer Paul Auster once said, “Everything can change at any moment, suddenly and forever.” This reminds us that life is full of surprises; things can change quickly, and we need to be ready to adapt. Though moving companies continue to open, global demand for moves is decreasing. This is a big problem for the moving industry; companies need to pay attention because this trend could seriously affect their business.

One major reason people are moving less is because the global economic growth is slowing down. A United Nations report says that the world’s economic growth is expected to fall to 2.4% in 2025, down from 2.9% in 2024. Both rich and poor countries are feeling this slowdown.

When the economy is slow, people try to save money—and moving is expensive. So, fewer people want to move. Still, sometimes people have no choice and must move to start a new chapter. When they do, they choose their relocation agent carefully. This means moving companies are competing harder than ever to win customers.

Boonma Group understands this challenge and makes it a top priority. Today’s clients have more detailed needs, and we raise our standards in response. Some want more personal service, some want flexibility, and others want quick responses. It may seem like people are being picky, but Boonma never disregards our clients’ needs. Our vision is to make moving as easy and stress-free as possible. We want our customers to feel happy and safe when their belongings reach their new home.

That’s why we listen closely to feedback. After every move, we give clients a survey, and their answers help us find ways to improve. Now, we’ve made this easier by sending the survey online.

Another reason for Boonma’s success is our experienced team. Our executive director and move manager each have more than 20 years of experience in the moving business. They understand the common problems our staff face and can solve issues quickly and wisely. Their leadership helps our staff work more efficiently and leads the organization to sustainable success and excellence in the global moving industry.

It’s not just about clients—we also care deeply about employee engagement. That engagement needs encouragement from the top. Sometimes, our workers feel overwhelmed by increasing pressure from clients with very specific or emotional demands, and this affects their mental health. If the stress continues, they might leave their jobs. To support our team, we organize fun events every year. For example, last year we took our employees on a company trip to Chanthaburi. It gave them a break and made them feel valued.

We would love to share some advice with young people working in the moving industry. Customer needs may fluctuate, but one thing stays the same: customers want their belongings to arrive safely. It is an honor to be trusted by valued clients, and to have the opportunity to take care of their beloved things. When we see the smile on their face at the end of a move, it brings us joy, too. Helping people in a time of change is a source of pride.

Don’t forget—taking care of your teammates is just as important as taking care of your clients. Respect your coworkers and treat them kindly. A happy team can handle any challenge and lead the company to success.
