Unpacking Innovation: AI’s Role in Reshaping the Moving Experience
By Ryan Marsh, Manager of Strategic Partnerships and former mover, Supermove
As a former moving sales executive for over a decade, I know firsthand how ripe and ready the moving industry is for tech advancements. We’ve witnessed technology being a driving force in reshaping numerous industries that we all use, shop and play in.
Think tele-medicine, self-driving vehicles, ecommerce, robots on jobsites. There is no shortage of service industries innovating at lightning speed. Modern, digital-led experiences have become commonplace for the average consumer, yet the moving industry finds itself in a unique position—struggling to keep pace with the digital revolution.
Moving trails behind; not by appetite but by availability
The Harvard Business Review’s assessment of digital advancement across industries revealed a stark reality—moving, categorized under transportation, lags far behind in digitization.
And by no means is it because the moving industry is resistant to change or digitally unsavvy. We refute that claim and any outdated labels that moving has carried for years. Change resistance and generational differences exist in almost every industry.
A recent study revealed that 91% of moving companies utilize at least one piece of software within their business operations. So, no, movers aren’t opposed to technology. The issue lies in the lack of tailored solutions that address the intricate challenges of the moving process, resulting in a gap between available technology and industry needs.
In fact, when asked what they think are the major trends for 2024, movers ranked AI and chat GPT as #1 in the latest Moving Business Trends Report. This shows a clear appetite for adoption.
AI is a lever to grow revenue—immediately
At Supermove, we recognize the immense potential of technology to level the playing field for movers, which is why we’re constantly investing in innovation, particularly through the introduction of automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into our software.
We recently introduced our AI-enabled product to revolutionize the way moving companies approach sales. Our latest offering, the AI Sales Copilot, is designed to empower movers with advanced capabilities to track sales calls, provide live coaching, and automate follow-up communications. With features such as call transcription, guided scripts, live objection-handling, upselling prompts, and AI-generated follow-ups, Supermove enables moving companies to maximize their conversion rates and turn more calls into booked jobs.
In a time where every lead counts and revenue growth is paramount, the AI Sales Copilot presents a game-changing opportunity for moving companies to thrive. By harnessing the power of AI, movers can effectively manage their sales pipelines, identify areas for improvement, and capitalize on every sales opportunity that comes their way.
Innovation doesn’t stop there
The significance of AI in the moving industry cannot be overstated. Not only does it streamline sales processes and improve efficiency, but it also enhances the overall customer experience. With AI-driven insights and personalized communication, moving companies can build stronger relationships with their customers, leading to higher satisfaction rates and increased loyalty.
Supermove’s dedication to innovation doesn’t stop here. We continue to push the boundaries of technology to deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of the moving industry. Our goal is not only to modernize operations but also to empower movers to excel in an increasingly digital landscape.
As we forge ahead, we invite movers to join us in embracing the future of the industry. Let’s embark on this journey together and redefine what it means to move in the digital age.
