Professionalism and Loyalty:
Universal Relocations

By Anu Dattani, Vice President, Universal Relocations

Universal Relocations was established in Chennai, India. Since its humble beginnings in 1998, it has grown remarkably and holds a reputation for being an efficient and reliable source of relocation for thousands of families along with their pets. The company is a family-owned business, founded by Sai Dattani; in a few years, it will eventually be taken over by his daughter, Anu Dattani.

Due to Universal’s accreditations from several organizations such as IAM, FIDI, AMSA, PAIMA, ARA & IPATA, the exceptional quality service that we offer, our customers are inclined to trust us. With over two decades of experience, 75 trucks, 250 employees and with five offices located across major metropolitan cities (Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai) in India, each equipped with its own warehouse, we have persistently learned to adapt with the changing times and incorporate the latest available technologies in order to make our client’s experience of transitioning to a new home much smoother.

At Universal, we understand how stressful moving to a new place can be. Our role isn’t merely to assist someone with their move but rather completely alleviate them from the burdens that come with it. With a wide range of roles assigned to our employees, we are able to provide personalized in-house service for every step of the way from packing, crating, freight forwarding and customer broker service. This keeps us from outsourcing jobs to other agents and eliminates the risks that arise from using a third party. We also have a customer service team working 24/7 to continuously send updates during the whole process right from pickup up until delivery.

We currently have a professional team of over 250 employees in India alone, most of whom who have remained loyal to us since the beginning and have treated and cared about the growth of the company like their own. We sincerely value their contributions in helping Universal become what it is today.

The majority of our services are rendered for individual clients making residential moves. However, we have also begun specializing in government and military moves. India has a large migration rate, with the younger generation constantly seeking employment and education opportunities abroad and the older generation looking to move back home; this constant migration keeps the industry going like a well-oiled machine.

Some of our biggest customers of international relocation services include the American embassy, the ministry of external affairs-Delhi, the Indian Air Force (IAF), Air India, the Malaysian Consulate, the Australian Consulate, and the Indian Bank Association.

We routinely prepare to face the unpredictable monsoons in Chennai every year, as our port there handles the most traffic. Our warehouses are well-equipped to protect our containers from water damage and take serious measures to prevent the surrounding area from flooding. During times of unanticipated excessive legal regulation, such as our current state in the pandemic, we strive to be honest about our limitations to our clients while striving to maintain an exceptional quality of service.

Universal’s goal is to continually expand and accommodate our client’s demands. Due to an increased traffic of business in Andhra Pradesh, India, we are currently focusing on expanding to open our sixth branch office near the Krishnapatnam Port.
