In every issue of the Portal, we invite our authors to share their experiences, success stories, learning experiences, and vision with others in the moving and forwarding industry. In addition to our regular columns, feature articles for each issue are united by a central theme. Innovations in Technology: Defining the Future of Moving

​Technology is advancing at an unprecedented rate, transforming industries and creating new services and ways of doing business. How is your company keeping up with and innovating with technology?

Here are some thought-provoking prompts for your article:

Eco-friendly Practices
In this section, we are looking for steps your company is taking to increase sustainability in its primary operations (e.g., moving, storage, transport, manufacturing). Stories regarding staff initiatives (office recycling, local clean-up projects, etc.) may be submitted separately as Company News.

 

  • What technology has your company adopted for more sustainable practices? For examples: optimizing routes to reduce carbon emissions, using data to plan more efficient moves, changes in your packing materials, adopting electric vehicles?

  • What obstacles have you faced in implementing sustainable practices, and how did you (or how are you currently working to) overcome them?

  • What steps has your company taken to measure and document its carbon footprint and that of your supply chain?


Digitalization and Automation

  • How has the automation of administrative tasks, scheduling, and inventory management enhanced operational efficiency, reducing human error and saving time?

  • How are mobile apps, VR and other technologies poised to enhance the customer experience?

  • How will automated surveys, chatbots and AI-assistants speed your work flow and increase your staff's efficiency?

  • You may write a complete article or simply provide the suggested information and we’ll include it in a staff-written overview article.

  • NEW Policy Regarding Use of AI: While AI-powered tools like ChatGPT can be useful in researching and outlining your contribution, we ask that you do the writing yourself; our readers want to hear your ideas in your own voice. Think of it as the difference between being one voice on a conference call, and meeting your colleagues face-to-face at the Annual Meeting—don't phone it in, your readers are here to meet the real you.

  • High-resolution digital photos (as separate image files, not embedded in your Word document) are welcome and will be used with your story as space permits.

  • We don’t have a specific word limit but suggest about 500-800 words. Remember that all submissions are subject to editing.

  • You may provide your text in an email message or as an attached Word document.

  • Be sure to include the author's name, job title and company with your submission.

  • Send your contribution and any questions to  william.kohudic@iamovers.org.

  • Photos must be high-resolution for print; a mobile phone photo at original size is usually acceptable.
